Eyelid Surgery
Eyelid Surgery: or blepharoplasty, is a procedure that improves the appearance of the upper and lower eyelids. Performed by a specialized ophthalmologist, this technique removes excess skin and fat, correcting drooping eyelids and bags under the eyes. Ideal for rejuvenating the look and, in some cases, improving the visual field. It is a surgery that does not require hospitalization and in just 10 days you will be back home

Cataract Surgery
When you have a cataract, the lens of the eye becomes cloudy and does not allow you to see well. This is corrected by surgery where the natural cloudy lens is removed and replaced with an artificial clear lens, called an intraocular lens. This procedure is outpatient and recovery is usually quick. Most people experience a significant improvement in their vision after surgery.
Surgery Pterygium
Pterygium is an abnormal growth of connective (benign) tissue on the surface of the eye, which can cause irritation and affect vision. Pterygium resection is an outpatient surgery that is performed under local anesthesia and substantially improves the appearance of the eye, removing this tissue precisely and safely.
Surgery Chalazion
It is a benign bump that forms on the eyelid due to the obstruction of a sebaceous gland called the meibomian gland. Although it is not a cyst, this bump can cause irritation, pain, and depending on the size, pressure on the eyeball. Chalazion surgery removes this injury permanently and safely. This procedure is outpatient, minimizes the risk of recurrences and improves the appearance of the eyelid.
Upper and lower blepharoplasty
Eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty is the surgical correction of the upper eyelids and/or bags in the lower eyelids, characteristics that make us look older and more tired; in some cases even affecting vision.
Its objective can be functional (to improve the visual field), restorative and/or aesthetic (improves appearance and rejuvenates the look). It is an outpatient procedure and can be performed on the upper or lower eyelid or on all four eyelids in the same surgical act.
Strabismus correction
Strabismus surgery is performed to correct the alignment of the eyes in people with strabismus or deviated eyes, a condition in which the eyes do not face in the same direction. In this surgery, the ophthalmologist adjusts the oculomotor muscles that control the movement of the eye, depending on the direction and type of deviation they present. The intervention is outpatient, recovery includes a period of adjustment in which the brain adapts to the new ocular alignment. This surgery is effective in both children and adults and helps improve visual alignment, depth perception, and facial aesthetics.
Ptosis Correction
Ptosis is the abnormal position of one or both upper eyelids, in which they appear more droopy. In some cases the eyelid may droop only slightly and in other cases it may droop so much as to cover the pupil and affect vision. This can be caused by aging, be of genetic origin or generated by an eye injury. It is corrected by outpatient surgery that raises the eyelid again, which improves the field of vision and physical appearance.
Eyelash electrolysis
It is a procedure that is performed to prevent abnormal eyelash growth from triggering very severe complications such as corneal ulcers, eye irritation, foreign body sensation, and tearing. If the condition is not treated, scarring of the cornea can occur and affect vision. This procedure uses heat and electrical current to destroy the hair follicle safely and is ambulatory.
Clinic of Ophthalmology Specialties
Focal laser photocoagulation (for central serous chorioretinopathy).
A procedure in which, using an argon laser beam, small burns are produced in the area where fluid leaks into the retina, which restores the retina to its impermeability. This outpatient procedure is performed under topical anesthesia (in drops) and is not painful for the patient.
Subthreshold retinal laser
It consists of generating small burns with an Argon Laser on the area of the retina that has been identified as responsible for the accumulation of fluid within it in order to control macular edema.
This outpatient procedure is performed under topical anesthesia (in drops) and generates minimal discomfort for the patient
Laser photocoagulation
Treatment by which small laser burns are produced in the ischemic retina (without sufficient blood supply) to reduce the release of substances that induce the disorganized growth of new blood vessels, thus preventing future retinal detachment or intraocular bleeding. This outpatient procedure is performed under topical anesthesia and is minimally painful for the patient.
Intravitreal therapy
A small blood cell is a medical procedure in which a medication is injected directly into the eye, specifically into the vitreous (the jelly-like part that fills the eye). This technique is used to treat various eye diseases that affect the retina, the light-sensitive part of the eye.
Laser Iridoplasty
A procedure in which small burns are made to the iris (muscle structure that gives color to the eye) using a laser in order to make it flatter and thus allow the angle (drainage site of the fluid that occurs inside the eye) to remain open. This surgery is especially useful in patients who have a shape of the iris known as a plateau.
Capsulotomy
Capsulotomy is a laser procedure that treats opacity of the posterior capsule, a common complication after cataract surgery. Performed by an expert ophthalmologist, this quick and safe surgery restores visual clarity by removing the dull membrane.
Laser transescleral
Slow down the progress of glaucoma using the Cyclo G6 laser system. It is a non-invasive therapy that does not require incisions or implants and can be used by means of the external micropulse method (probe). The procedure does not cause tissue damage and therefore the doctor may repeat it as needed to treat glaucoma.
Crosslinking
Corneal crosslinking is a treatment that aims to stabilize and strengthen the cornea and slow or stop the progression of keratoconus. It is also indicated in other types of ectasias or deformations of the corneal curvature.
In this procedure, ultraviolet light and riboflavin are used, which generates the appearance of new collagen bonds to strengthen the cornea, improving its quality.
It is an outpatient procedure, which also reduces the need for a corneal transplant and future complications.

Travel and tourism information and recommendations
- Recommendations for safe tourism «tourist safety guidelines for foreign patients» (click here).
- It is advisable to take out travel insurance that covers possible medical emergencies abroad. It is important to verify the coverages that are of interest to you and that are within your reach (for example: that include medical and dental care and repatriation). We clarify that this travel insurance is different from the surgical complications insurance that you acquire with surgery. If you want to know our recommendation in this regard, you can review the following link «Our recommendation for insurance for travelers» (click here)
- Remember to ask your bank to activate your debit and/or credit card to be used in Colombia or the destination country, contemplate the approved limit amount and that it is sufficient to cover all the costs in which you are going to use the card (example: if you have a limit on the card, you must verify that this amount covers the expenses you need to cover).
- If your payment corresponds to a package of services that includes surgery, please make sure before paying, that you have previously received the medical evaluation (virtual or face-to-face) by one of our specialists and that the quote includes insurance for possible surgical complications.
